Dear Friends, I want to give you an update on a recent meeting of the Board of Supervisors concerning my initiation of a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to reduce the planned lanes from 6 to 4 on Route 234. The motion was passed on October 1st by a five to three margin. The issue centers on the truck traffic that will be detoured from I95 onto Route 234, to I66 and eventually to Dulles airport. The concern here is that we don’t want Route 234 to become a beltway encouraging more truck traffic. I thank Supervisors Peter Candland, Marty Nohe, John Jenkins and Corey Stewart for voting with me. We still have a long way to go! The matter will come before the Planning Commission and again before the Board. Both will host public hearings before the final vote concerning this action. Thank you for those of you who testified and sent e-mails of support. If you would like to know more about this issue please go to my webpage at www.potomacdistrict.com and click on the tab at the top of the page titled “Tri County Parkway”. There will be a social at Montclair Country Club on November 18th from 6-8 PM hosted by the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Leadership from the Center will be there to share with you the many events and performances available for you during 2013-2014 Season. Come out and enjoy meeting with fellow residents of our community and learn about this exciting addition to our County. Please RSVP to either 703-792-4648 or to my e-mail at email@example.com. I have received many calls asking when the Chick-Fil-A will be coming to the Quantico Center next to Route 234. The Planning Commission and the BOCS have approved the zoning and permits are in the process of being issued. The latest information available indicates an opening next summer. The Fuller Heights Park is on schedule and the heavy equipment is on-site clearing trees. The park, which is next to the St. Francis Catholic Church on Fuller Heights Road, will serve the Dumfries Triangle Quantico Little League and the children in the area. It has been a long time in coming and will be a very welcome site to the league and community. My website is updated on a regular basis with current information and events about both Prince William County and the Potomac District. I have also initiated an E-GRAM that will give you timely information as it happens. I encourage you to sign up for both my Newsletter and E-GRAM on my website. Please call me with your questions or concerns at 703-792-4645 or send an e-mail.
